When the railroad was finished in 1869, the snow often delayed trains crossing the summit near Truckee. The engineers of the route were not familiar with the huge snowfall that area often receives. Go to the Exhibits section of the Central Pacific Railroad Musem. There you will find old photograghs of solutions to the snow problem. Discuss with your teacher how you can best show these - by linking to them on the internet or by printing out the pictures. Make a presentation to the class showing them how the snow problem was solved.
