At Beach and Catalina ->

With so many scenic and natural wonders throughout the state, Californians could choose to spend their vacations away from the cities. They had a daunting array of options for their outdoor experience, ranging from municipal mountain camps to the grandeur of Yosemite and California's other national and state parks, to relaxing forest resorts, complete with swimming pools and air-conditioned cabins.

Mono Lake Photo. Salt water Mono Lake off Highway 395 just east of Yosemite National Park near the California-Nevada border is a favorite with photographers.
