People from all over the world participated in the California Gold Rush. Some were already here and called the area home long before the discovery of gold. Many came to seek their fortune and then return home. Others came, found no fortune, and were forced to stay because they could not afford the return trip. Others came and were captivated by the natural beauty and abundent resources other than gold, so they stayed and made California their home by choice.

There are many websites devoted to this singular event. Please explore them, enjoy them, and learn from them!
